In partnership with Southeast Europe: People and Culture, the Helsinki Film Festival (“Love and Anarchy”) will be screening the Finnish premieres of a number of films from Southeast Europe. The Enemy by Dejan Zečević and Our Grand Despair by Seyfi Teoman will be screened in the presence of the directors. The festival will also include Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s award winning Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. On 24 September, festival goers will be able to join Southeast Europe: People and Culture at the Balkan Fever Party at Club Dubrovinik for a performance by Serbian musicians Shazalakazoo.

Featuring both modern and classic feature films, documentaries and animations this year’s Aye Aye Film Festival in Nancy, France will take a special look at the past, present and future of film in Southeast Europe. In addition to both open air and indoor screenings, the festival will also host a debate on the Western Balkan cinema with leading directors from the region. The ‘Southeast Europe and Friends’ stage in the heart of Luxembourg’s Summer in the City Festival will be a musical delight for jazz lovers. Edgy jazz crossover artists ‘Music Progressive Quartet’ (the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) will perform at 20:30, leaving Irina Karamarković (Kosovo*) with her soulful jazz reinterpretations of the songs of the region to take the stage at 23:30.
