Young people with lots of experience in the creative industries have decided to go the distance and take an active part in establishing flourishing creative industries in Montenegro. Producer Sanja Jovanović, graphic designer Nikola Latković, architect Dijana Vučinić, multimedia artist Marko Milošević and audiovisual producer Biljana Vušović have joined their forces to run an NGO called Nije greda. The name is idiomatic but can be roughly translated as ‘no problem’.
Montenegro's creative industries have still some way to go. Currently, they tend to lie in the shadow of classical art forms such as painting, theatre, film. The basic problem is said to lie in the fact that a strong force, capable of bringing all those dealing in this area together and helping them, has not yet existed in Montenegro. The NGO Nije greda is potentially one such force.
As its first activity, Nije greda brought the annual exhibition of the Art Directors Club in New York to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. Thanks to this, it was possible to present the highest international standards in advertising, interactive media, design and communications to Montenegrin audiences. After this positive experience, the members of Nije greda are looking forward to achieving more.
